Dear students, alums and friends of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies,
We are wrapping up another academic year full of accomplishments by our undergraduate and graduate students and our faculty, all of whom were recognized during the SPS Awards Ceremony on April 24th. I also want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation for your gifts to the Spanish and Portuguese Studies Fund during the Gator Nation Giving Day on February 20th.
The various sections in this newsletter showcase the pedagogical, scholarly and community-oriented endeavors by our students and faculty, including the student-run Spanish conversation club Mesa de Español, the Spanish honors society Sigma Delta Pi, our academic offerings in UF Online and the film documentaries produced by students in our Spanish in the Community course.
I wish you a productive and relaxing summer term. We will be back in the fall to share more inspiring stories about our commitment to fostering intercultural appreciation, personal growth and professional development through the study of the Spanish and Portuguese languages, literatures and cultures.
