Medicine Drive for Cuba

In the midst of a COVID-19 surge in Cuba, PhD student Sheila Olivé heard from several doctors that there were no medicines, not even the basics. We launched an SPS medicine drive, and donations came in from faculty, graduate students, and even undergraduate students in Kathy Navajas’s Translation class, who organized the translation into English of the list of medicines in Spanish and then shared it with their student organizations. In October we sent 52 pounds of medications by ship to three doctors who Sheila knows in Havana. Pictured in the photo is Dr. Caridad Pérez Martínez, a surgeon, happy that she can help her patients thanks to SPS’s contributions!
