Dear Friends of SPS,
I hope this message finds you well, staying healthy and doing your best to get through these very strange times. This semester, as we are all physically distancing and missing the face-to-face connections we are so used to, I am pleased to share our Fall 2020 newsletter with you.
The fall semester is winding down here in Gainesville, and we are busy wrapping up our classes while simultaneously looking ahead to next semester. As you surely have heard, the University is requiring that we return to face-to-face teaching, but with reduced classroom capacities due to physical distancing, we will have to simultaneously teach a small section of (distanced, masked) in-person students and a larger section of online students. This “HyFlex” approach is a pedagogical challenge for many disciplines, and in languages we realize it will require a great deal of planning and innovating for us to be able to continue to deliver high-quality courses to our students. I hope that when we reach out with our Spring/Summer newsletter I will be able to tell you how well we have done!
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy learning about our latest highlights.
Best wishes for a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.
Saludos,
Gillian Lord
