Visiting faculty Francisco Marcos-Marín, in collaboration with Xuhua Lucía Liang, has recently published an innovative bilingual guide to Spanish linguistics titled “Teoría y práctica de la lengua española” (Theory and Practice of the Spanish Language). This groundbreaking work, published by Shanghai Foreign Languages Education Press in 2022, is the first bilingual introduction of its kind in China. The book combines the theory of Spanish linguistics with practical applications, all presented in accessible language for readers.

The book is divided into 17 chapters designed to help scholars and professionals who already possess a foundational knowledge of Spanish expand and improve their skills. Readers will follow each chapter to gain a preliminary understanding of the history, current situation, and practical applications of Spanish in various scientific and humanistic disciplines.

Unique in its publication format, “Teoría y práctica de la lengua española” is available in two separate volumes, one in Spanish and the other in Chinese. The Spanish version caters to researchers in the field of Spanish language learning who already have some experience with the language. In contrast, the Chinese version is designed to assist Chinese readers in easily understanding the Spanish text, serving as an invaluable resource for those beginning their linguistic journey.
