This semester the students of the course “Spanish in the Community” interviewed six members of our community who immigrated to the United States when they were still teenagers or very young.
What are the needs of a young Hispanic who emigrates by the decision of his family? What obstacles do they face? How do they adapt to the new culture? How do they describe that experience of learning a new language and a new way of living? Do they maintain contact with their country of origin? How are family relationships cultivated in the distance?
