Y no había luz: Theater and the Arts of Healing in Puerto Rico

Professors Colleen Rua (School of Theater and Dance), Jeffrey Pufahl (Center for Arts in Medicine) and Antonio Sajid López (Spanish and Portuguese Studies) are launching in Summer A 2022 (May 13-29) the course Creativity & Community: Theater and the Arts for Health and Healing in Puerto Rico.

During this intensive experience, students will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to learn together with the Y no había luz company how to apply theater in communities that have experienced trauma. The YNHL theater is located in the heart of Santurce, one of the most iconic neighborhoods on the island.

The YNHL Theater Company carries out, from 2005 to the present, constant artistic work that contributes to the growth and development of Puerto Rican culture linking art to education. It provides the community with a direct approach to the visual and performing arts through workshops, theater pieces and cultural management projects.
