SPS Faculty Receive Prestigious Humanities Scholarship Enhancement Awards

The University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) recently highlighted the achievements of its faculty members in the latest issue of CLAS News & Events. Among the noteworthy accomplishments, three out of the seventeen Humanities Scholarship Enhancement Awards were granted to SPS faculty members: Gabriela Puscama, Paola Uparela, and Imanol Suárez Palma. This remarkable success displays our department’s outstanding contributions to the field of Humanities.

Paola Uparela Receives Award for Outstanding Article on Latin American Studies

We are delighted to share the news that Associate Professor Paola Uparela has been awarded the 2023 Sturgis Leavitt Award for the best article or chapter on a Latin American subject published by a member of the Southeastern Council for Latin American Studies (SECOLAS) in 2022. Dr. Uparela’s winning article is titled “‘Yo llana estoy’ o el despliegue de una virginidad queer,” a thought-provoking and innovative piece that showcases her dedication to contributing new perspectives to the field of Latin American Studies.
