Dear students, alumni, and friends of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies,
I trust you’ve had a pleasant and productive fall. At the start of this academic year, we welcomed one new faculty member, Dr. Mariana Oliveira, who will teach Portuguese language and culture in addition to directing the UF in Rio de Janeiro study-abroad program. Moreover, we welcomed an impressive new cohort of fourteen graduate students representing our MA and PhD degrees in both Linguistics and Literature/Culture specializations.
This Fall 2023 newsletter features updates on the professional accomplishments of our faculty and alumni in addition to examples of our department’s engagement with experiential learning and community service.
